Every year since 1998, at the end of September, in the beautiful town of San Vito Lo Capo, Sicily celebrates the Cous Cous Festival. This culinary event is a unique opportunity to immerse yourself in the culture and flavors of the Mediterranean.
Cous Cous, or cuscusu as it is called in Sicilian, has an ancient history. It was born between the 7th and 8th centuries on the Maghreb coasts and in sub-Saharan Africa. Today, it is considered a typical dish of the Province of Trapani and, consequently, also of San Vito Lo Capo.
During the festival, a gathering of peoples is created, especially those of the Mediterranean, where cous cous is a symbol of conviviality and tradition. The Cous Cous Fest is a food and wine festival that has made San Vito Lo Capo the world capital of cous cous, hospitality and multiculturalism.
Activities during the festival include:
Concerts
Exhibition of typical products
Master classes held by famous chefs
World Couscous Championship
Of course, it will be possible to taste couscous prepared by various countries and with different recipes, by purchasing a ticket on site.
I strongly recommend you visit San Vito Lo Capo during the festival and taste the delicious couscous.
