The Quindicina to the Madonna of Trapani

“The Quindicina to the Madonna of Trapani” is a religious tradition deeply rooted in the hearts of the people of Trapani and the faithful from the surrounding areas. Every year, from August 1st to 15th, pilgrims visit the Sanctuary of Maria SS. Annunziata during this period of preparation for the solemn feast on August 16th. Over these fifteen days, devotional practices intensify: some visit the sanctuary daily, while others recite prayers at home or in groups. This tradition dates back to the indulgence granted by Pope Gregory XIII in 1579, allowing the faithful to recite prayers in honor of the Blessed Virgin Mary for fifteen consecutive days.
